Bedspread
Bedspread is a “cloth” that you put over all the sheets and blankets on the bed. They often put a big touch on the interior and also adds color to the room. Size and thickness of the bedspread is determined by personal preferences and budget.
Purpose
Bedspread is mainly used to decorate a bed. They come in many different designs and colors to fit any room. Sometimes you can decorate the rest of your room around a bedspread. They are also used for heating. They are heavy and thicker then blankets, so they give a lot of heat.
History
In 18 and 19-century of U.S. history bedspreads was often throws as gifts. Women would get them when they got married, had children or had another major event in life. They would use them to decorate the house. As time passed the materials became batter and the bedspread was made of thick cotton and wool. Woven patterns also became more common.
Types
There are two main types of quilts. One is heavier, thicker quilts. This is known as a traditional bedspreads. This kind of bedspread sorrounds the whole bed and go to the bottom of the mattress. The second type is a thinner, lighter bedspread that do not extend as far down as usual bedspread.
